Tahiri

Ingredients-
1. 1 glass basmati rice
2. 2.5 glass water
3.1 medium potato
4.1 large onion
5.1 large tomato
6.1 green chili
7.fresh coriander leaves
8.3 tbsp oil
9.1 tsp red chili powder
10.1.5 tsp cumin coriander powder
11.1/4 tsp turmeric powder
12.salt to taste
11.mustard seeds
12.cumin seeds
13.1 dry red chili
14.2 bay leaf (tej patta)
15.3-4 black paper corns
16.2 (cloves) long
17.curry leaves

Method-

1.Rince 1 glass basmati rice in water very well then soak the rice for 10 minutes.

2.After 10 minutes drain the rice and keep aside.

3.Heat 3 tbsp oil in heavy bottom pan or cooker and add mustard seeds,cumin seeds when they start crackle add paper corn,cloves,dry red chili and bay leaf.

4.Now add curry leaves ,potato,sliced onion,tomato,green chili.


5.Saute for a minute.Than add seasoning. Add salt,turmeric powder,red chili powder,cumin coriander powder and mix well.

6.stir and mix well.

7.Now add rice.Mix the rice very well with masala and saute for a minute.


8.Pour 2.5 glasses of water.cover pan with lid (I use cooker and lid should without ring)


9.cook tahiri on low flame until the water is absorbed and the rice grains are fluffy and cooked.


10.Give rest for about 2 minutes.then gently mix and serve hot tahiri with curd or your choice of raita.
